The Fastnet lighthouse is situated on an island made of rock, located off the southern coast of Ireland. The lighthouse was first built in 1854 and has been in operation ever since.
Fastnet lighthouse was the last part of Ireland, 19th century emigrants saw prior to arriving in North America, and as such became known as the ‘Teardrop of Ireland’.
Today, the lighthouse is still guiding maritime vessels off the West Cork coast and is the midpoint in the famous yacht race, the ‘Fastnet race’.
As Fastnet Consulting Group has offices in Boston, MA and in Cork, Ireland, the lighthouse represents the enduring connection between the two countries and is the inspiration for us to guide fellow travellers along their journey, however choppy the waters may be.
